Thanks for coming to my blog on Anglo-Scottish relations.
I grew up English in England but had Scottish parents and a mostly Scottish extended family in Scotland. I lived for 3 years in Glasgow in my early 20s in the mid-1990s, when devolution and independence were just dreams. The referendum debate has re-ignited my interest in Scottish political affairs.
My own niche interest is helping to generate goodwill in England towards Scotland, whatever the outcome. I started off “no” in the debate but followed closely the material published by both sides, and moved soon to “yes”. For me, there is no turning back on this. Scotland needs to come out of the shade of England and enjoy its own political space just like any other country. England and Scotland can continue to work with each other in a multitude of ways following independence.
If you read only one thing here, check out my Reigate Declaration published in June 2014 and take part in the one-question poll.
Wishing all you Scots the best on September 18th!
